Are there kookaburra cricket bats made of Kashmir Willow? How good are they compared to English willow bats?

  1. Kookaburra bats are made of Kashmir willow too. But these are mostly junior bats. The Kookaburra Genesis Thunder is an example. Kashmir willow is a substitute to English willow and as the name suggests is grown in the Kashmir region. It has similar characteristics as English willow, but it is more brittle and thus generally doesn’t perform as well or last as long as English willow. Kashmir willow bats are normally bought as a starter bat and should not be bought for serious cricketers playing good club and county junior levels. It is also true that Kashmir willow is sometimes heavier than its English counterpart. But Kashmir willow bats offer great value. Some might argue that the top quality Kashmir willow bats are better than Grade 3 or 4 English willow counterparts. As Kashmir willow is cheaper, it is not unusual for club level cricketers in countries like India and Sri Lanka, where you come from, to use bats made from Kashmir willow for their regular game.
