I have heard that cricket bats are flat, and other people said it curves in? i was wondering which is true.

  1. It is not flat or concave the bat is actually slightly convex on the hitting surface to allow the batsmen to angle the ball better. It is only very slight but if you look you will see a slight crease running down the center of the bat.
  2. it depends on your choice....lol
  3. that first guy is right
  4. Bats do have a slight arc to them - it marginally increases the size of the centre of percussion (sweet spot)
  5. Both are true - it just depends on the specific bat you have. Some bats have a completely flat face, where as more and more these days have a curved face, which is known as a bow in the blade. What this does is it can lower the middle of the bat and where the sweet spot is. You will find that a lot of bats made in India and Pakistan have a large bow in the blade. This is because they are designed for batsmen to use on pitches that are slower and lower and therefore need the sweet spot to be a bit lower on the bat.
