- "The length of the game — a match can last six or more hours a day for up to five days in one form of the game — the numerous intervals for lunch and tea, and the rich terminology are notable aspects which can often confuse those not familiar with the sport." According to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cricket Cheers!
- Traditionally there were 4 day - even 5 day matches. Now 1 day matches are very popular. We used to bunk school -- take lunch with us to watch match day after day or till we we were caught.
- Test matches last 5 days. This is often not the case if one team wins before the end of the full five days. One dayers last about 7.5 hours to 8 hours. It could end early if one team wins before the full 100 overs have been bowled.
- Short answer : Up to five days for a TEST match, ie cricket in its natural and prefferd form; One day matches are 50 overs bowled per side, but slow blowling rates lengthening the game are penalised; 20/twenty games are a new idea with a shorter version of the game using 20 overs bowled per side and special rules to make for a faster more high impact game. - There are different types of cricket matched played across the world. The main ones are 1. ODI(One day international) - As the name specifies that last for a day(approx 7 hrs) 2. Test matches - I think these are the matches you were talking about. It can last upto 5 days according to the performance of the teams 3. 20 - 20 matches - The latest addition to the cricket are the twenty twenty matches which is gaining huge popularity because of the shot duration. They will get over in little over than 3 hr.
- Normal Duration for ODI's: Avg 13 overs = 1hr So 50 overs = 4hrs and 15minutes. Break-1 ( Drinks after 15 overs ) = 5 minutes. Break-2 ( Drinks after 32 overs ) = 5 minutes. Break-3 ( Lunch after 50 overs ) = 40 minutes. Total time taken to complete 1 & 2 Innings including lunch hrs is = 9hrs and 30 min.
